Things You Didn’t Know About Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Introduction

When The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Mordor was released in 2014, it was hailed as a return to form for the fantasy genre and became one of the most commercially successful games based on Tolkien’s works. In fact, it was so successful that developers Monolith decided to make another game based on Tolkien lore called Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. But did you know there were some pretty interesting things about this game that you might not have heard before? Well, we’ve got some great news for you: here are seven fun facts about Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor!

The original design for Talion was a hybrid of Aragorn and Legolas.

. The team wanted to create a character that felt like the ranger of Gondor but also had some rogue elements to him, so they gave him the bow as his primary weapon.

Talion was also supposed to have a companion named Hildirim (pronounced “Hill-dee-room”) who would travel with you throughout Mordor and help out in battle. However, as development progressed it became clear that this wasn’t working out well for either party: Talion didn’t really need another person tagging along with him at all times since he could easily handle himself on his own; meanwhile Hildirim was getting bored because there wasn’t much else for him do besides fight alongside Talion during missions or escort captured warchiefs back home safely. So instead of forcing them together into an awkward partnership where neither actually got anything out of it (except maybe some jealousy) we decided that Hildirim should just stay behind at The Black Gate while Talion went off on his own adventures across Middle Earth–it worked out much better this way!

The Uruk-hai were originally meant to be the main antagonists in Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, not just the captains.

If you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings, then you know that Uruk-hai are Sauron’s army and they make up most of his forces. They are also seen as one of the main antagonists in The Return of the King movie.

However, if you haven’t played Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor yet (and shame on you if that’s true), then let me fill you in on something interesting: originally Uruk-hai were meant to be the main villains instead of just captains!

Tolkien’s son, Christopher, was very involved in the game’s development.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s son, Christopher, was a consultant on the game. He was also an author in his own right and is known for being heavily involved with The Silmarillion and other works by his father.

Monolith did a lot of research on Tolkien lore before making the game.

They studied the original books, and even went to New Zealand to see the landscape for themselves.

There was a real-life version of the Ringwraiths that you could fight against in Shadow of Mordor.

The main antagonists of Shadow of Mordor are known as the Nazgul, who are Sauron’s most powerful servants. They were originally meant to be the main antagonists in Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, not just captains.

The game developers wanted there to be a real-life version of these enemies that you could fight against if you wanted an extra challenge or just wanted something new and exciting in your gameplay experience. The idea was scrapped because it was too difficult for players who weren’t familiar with Middle Earth lore – but if you look closely at some parts of the game (specifically areas where orcs are fighting) then you’ll see these creatures roaming around on screen!

Some members of Monolith even took part in a stunt we see in the trailer where they rode on horseback while juggling flaming torches and shooting arrows at Orcs across Mordor’s landscape.

Tolkien’s son was involved in making this game

You may have heard of J.R.R. Tolkien, but there’s a good chance you aren’t familiar with his son Christopher or his extensive body of work as a scholar and literary critic. As the author of The History of Middle-Earth and The Children of H?rin (which were both published posthumously), Christopher played an important role in shaping our understanding of his father’s world–and now he has helped bring it to life for new generations through his involvement with Shadow of Mordor (a video game).

Conclusion

We hope you enjoyed learning about some of the interesting facts about Shadow of Mordor! We’re sure there are many more that we didn’t cover here, but hopefully this list will get you started on your journey through Middle-Earth.
